Worms in Pre Primary

Today we had so much fun. Miss E brought a box of worms to school for us to look at. In the morning, Mrs E showed us the box and went into the kitchen to get some worms out for us to look at - or so she said! While Miss E was teaching us a song about eating worms, Mrs E brought a plate of worms onto the mat and asked us if we wanted to join her in eating some!!! She picked Bethany and Kaleb and they ate some of the worms!!!!

What we didn't know is that they were tricking us! Mrs E had made jelly worms and told Bethany and Kaleb. They pretended to eat real worms but they were jelly ones! We were very surprised and thought it was a bit gross - especially when Mrs E put 5 in her mouth and pretended that they tasted awful!

In the afternoon, we got to see the real worms and look at them with magnifying glasses.Mrs M kept pulling faces when she was trying to catch them.

It was so much fun today. Look forward to new photos tomorrow!.

Monday 13 August 2012

Today we had some very special visitors to our class. We had a koala, a dingo, a German Shepherd and some Pythons. We were allowed to pat the koala very gently.
Did you know that a baby koala is called a joey? Baby koalas start out the same size as a jelly bean. They first only drink their mum's milk. Then they eat the mum's poo!!! This helps them get ready to be able to eat gumleaves.

We also saw a special white dingo. He was really tame and we were allowed to pat his back.

Did you know that a dingo is Australia's wild dog? White dingoes, like this one, are rare.

Then we saw a Simpson's Python. We were allowed to touch it gently and pat it as long as we moved our hand down the snake from head to tail. If we went the other way it would have hurt it because the scales would pull up. Some of us even put the snake around our neck!

We learnt so many interesting things about these animals. :)

Measuring

Today we built a Rainbow Snake out of playdough. It was our own idea and we cooperated to measure it with the Lego. We found out that it was 82 pieces of Lego long!! Mrs W said that we were very clever at measuring and counting.

Volcanoes in PP2

Today we made our volcanoes explode. Ben said that they "Errupted".
First we made our volcanoes from foam cups, alfoil and a paper plate.
Then we carefully poured 3 dessert spoons of carb soda into the hole.
Next we carefully poured 3 quarters of a cup of vinegar into the hole.
Suddenly ---- lava errupted from our volcano!
It was exciting. (Evan)
It was brilliant. (Angie)

Look out parents - we want to do some more at home!

It was so COOL!

Fun with Shaving Cream!

Today Mrs M let us play with shaving cream! We wrote numbers with our fingers in the cream. It felt gooey and squishy. It was so much fun. We made a bit of a mess!

Imogen, Jordan and Eden got shaving cream everywhere.

Bethany was careful and Jack tried to write on the camera.

Mrs M said we were very clever at writing our numbers.

Engineers in Pre Primary

Eden, Will and Ben decided to make a Spiderman jump ramp. They used the big wodden blocks and made a slope. They let the cars go at the top and they zoomed down and back up and flew off! They were very clever and the cars zoomed off into space. They showed Mrs W how it worked.

Welcome for 2012

HI and welcome to Tiny Teds 2012! We are pleased to be up and running this Semester and hope that you enjoy reading about our time in Pre Primary. We have been working really hard this year so far but haven't been blogging as Mrs E has been having a big holiday!
This Term we have a new teacher for 10 weeks and she is the lovely Miss E. We also have Mrs D in our class 1 day a week and Mrs M and Mrs W are back with us to help us learn lots. Sometimes even Mrs F comes in to help as well! So many adults but not as many as there are children :).
This Term we are learning about Australia and Australian Animals and then we will go exploring at the bottom of the garden - we might find plants or mini beasts or even fairies!
